And because you can not have one with out the other. She is the other one in our pack. She was a puppy when we got her from the shelter. Only 8 weeks old. She is younger than he is, by only 2 months! She is part husky, part shepherd. She is everything that is husky, (playful, hyper, unable to be contained, smart) and everything that is shepherd (fiercely loyal, amazing watch dog, smart, trainable). She is my son’s dog and she would never leave his side if given the choice. She can not watch him get on the school bus because she howls so loud when he gets on and leaves.
And I am cheating as there is more than one picture. These shots when like this.
Me- G get her to sit. Push on her butt. Tell her to sit. What are you doing? Both of you look….. aw forget it.

This is one of our mutts. He is total border collie, traveling salesman, but the sweetest guy ever. He loves my daughter to the ends of the earth. We got him at a shelter 5 years ago. He was only 9 months and he had been there twice! He was infested with fleas when we brought him home. You can find true love at an animal shelter.

Death of the Noodle Head
A long time ago, Gryffan bought this little purple squeaky toy for Em. And the two of them played with it for ever. Then Cooper came along, and Em started to hide it. She would only bring it out, every once in a while to play with Gryffan only when cooper was sleeping or being lazy. Most of the time it was in her pen, to give her comfort when Gryffan was gone. Last summer she out grew the pen, and the Noodle Head has been on the move since then. Never in the same place twice. Today Gryffan and her were playing fetch, and the unthinkable happened, a little tear showed up in the top of the toy. And that was the end of the Noodle Head. Emmy could not help but tear it to shreads.

What a beautiful day out side! I did what ever I could to stay out for as long as possible. I went on a run in the morning with Gryffan. I let the kids dig up the back patch where the garden is going, while I tried to finish reading a book.
I have been reading Eargon, or trying to read it. It is a really good book and I want to finish it, but it seems that when ever people see you sitting with a book, that is when a crisis happens. I have taken it out of the library 2 times already. I just want to finish it.

I did find a great way to take good pictures of the dogs. Set a treat on top of your camera. Not only will they sit where you want them but they will also look at you. Here are my puppies.

Happy Birthday Emergency!
Today is the day that we are figuring she was born. We picked her up at 7 weeks old from the Danville SPCA. She was too young to be separated from her mom, but her mom had to be put down because of her temper. Oh our Emmy, she was a heart breaker from the moment we saw her. We had just moved into our house, and Tim had promised Gryffan a puppy when we finally bought our own home. When I say that we just moved in, I mean it, we were not even unpacked. We “officially” moved out on the 15th of January and we brought Em home on the 17th. We went to the shelter looking for a bigger dog, maybe a year old, and we wanted a Rottweiler something fierce. We had been to every shelter in every little town in the last 2 weeks, and just could not find the perfect match. We walked around Danville to see the big dogs, and then for some reason we went to see the puppy’s, and there she was all fluffy and furry. She was right next to a chow/rottie mix and we were debating between those two. We left the shelter, I think we went out to eat, and we came right back for her. This is a really bad bad bad pick, but it is the only one I have of her and Gryffan at the shelter.

Gryffan holding her at the shelter
We always get asked how we came up with her name Emergency. Well that is what happens when a 4 year old names his puppy. The first night we had her, Gryffan was playing with her in the new kitchen, everything was still brand new and shiny, and we had not yet decided on a name. All of a sudden Gryffan slipped and fell and there was blood just pouring out of his nose. Tim and I panicked and rushed him out to the hospital. It turned out that he had his very first broken nose. The Dr said that there would be no damage because he was so young, there wont even be a bump. As we were leaving I joked around with Tim that we should name the dog ER or something, and Gryffan over head, and said her name is Emergency. And it stuck.

Growing up together
Em is the best dog, she is so loyal to her boy. I know when Gryffan or Tim will be coming home, because she is stilling by the door wagging her tail. I used to take her up to the bus stop with me, but once Gryffan got onto the bus with out her, she would cry. Sometimes she is very much like the Husky part of her and other times she shows her German Shepherd side. Once we were going for a walk and a stray dog came running up to us. Em got right in between us and the other dog, she was protecting us. When Gryffan gets hurt, she is there with kisses. She is the first one the greet him in the morning.

Laying together
She has been a joy in our life, even when she is ripping up the trash. I wish her a long happy life with us.
